National Jewish Book Award!

I just found out that The Other Half of Life won the 2009 National Jewish Book Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature!

I'm thrilled!

Thanks to everyone who helped make this book possible: the great team at Knopf, my family, and most importantly the generous people who lived through the events and shared their stories with me!

    Hi Kim,
    I believe I met you at the Simmons College "Crimes and Misdemeanors" Conference this past summer. (However, if I am mistaken,please excuse me.) I was thrilled to hear that your book won the National Jewish Book Award. It was also an Association of Jewish Libraries Sydney Taylor Award Notable Book, which is the Committee I serve on. It is an excellent read. It deserves every accolade it is being honored with. Congratulations!
